Everything you want to know before booking your tune — no fluff, no sales pitch.

About the Tune

Stage 1 is an ECU remap only — no hardware changes needed. It's the most popular option and works with your vehicle exactly as it sits. You'll see real gains in power and torque, and most customers notice improved fuel economy too.

Stage 2 goes further. It pairs the remap with hardware upgrades — typically intercooler, exhaust, intake or injector work — to unlock significantly more power from engines that have been prepared for it. We'll recommend what's appropriate for your vehicle and goals.

Yes — noticeably. The biggest thing most customers feel immediately is the mid-range torque. The engine pulls harder from lower revs, which makes a huge difference day-to-day whether you're towing, overtaking, or just cruising. Power numbers go up, but it's the torque delivery that changes how the vehicle actually feels to drive.

Most customers see around 8–12% improvement in real-world fuel consumption under normal driving. The more highway driving you do, the better the saving tends to be. Hard towing or city-only driving will see a smaller benefit. Use our Economy ROI Calculator to see an estimate based on your km and fuel price.

Yes. We retain a copy of the original ECU data as standard, and it can be restored if needed. Whether you're selling the vehicle, going back for a dealer service, or just want to return to stock — it's not permanent.

Primarily diesel, but yes — we do work on selected petrol and turbo-petrol vehicles. Check the HP Gains Calculator to see if your vehicle is in our range. If it's not listed, get in touch directly and we'll let you know what's possible.

Safety & Warranty

Yes — when it's done right. We use professionally developed tune files that have been tested and proven across thousands of vehicles of the same make, model, and engine. Every tune is appropriate for the vehicle's standard hardware, keeping temperatures, pressures, and component loads within safe operating limits.

We don't push engines past what they're built to handle. The goal is more usable power and better efficiency — not blowing things up.

Honestly — it can. We won't mislead you on this. Most manufacturers' factory warranties don't cover modifications, and remapping technically counts as one. Some dealers will still honour warranty claims for issues clearly unrelated to the tune, but it's not guaranteed.

If your vehicle is still under manufacturer warranty and that's a concern, have a chat with us before booking and we can talk through your options including reversibility.

We stand behind our work. If your vehicle isn't performing as expected after the tune, bring it back and we'll look at it at no charge. We've never left a customer with a vehicle they're not happy with, and we don't plan to start now.

We're also reachable after the job — you're not left on your own once you drive out the gate.

Practical Questions

For a Stage 1 remap, most vehicles are sorted within a couple of hours. More involved jobs — Stage 2, vehicles needing diagnostics first, or agricultural equipment — can take longer. We'll give you a realistic timeframe when you book so you can plan around it.

Both. Our workshop is at 7A Short Street, Timaru. For fleet jobs, farm machinery, and customers further afield across South Island, we offer a mobile on-site service. It's how we handle most agricultural and commercial fleet work — taking the whole thing off your plate.

Possibly. The calculator covers the most common vehicles but it's not the full picture of what we can do. Get in touch directly with your make, model, year, and engine and we'll let you know straight away.

Bring it back. We'll review it, adjust the setup if needed, and make sure the vehicle is performing the way it should. We haven't had a customer leave unhappy and we intend to keep it that way.

Our Services

Yes — and it's a big part of what we do. John Deere, Case, New Holland, Fendt, Massey Ferguson — agricultural remapping is a genuine speciality, not an afterthought. We can come to the farm, which makes it completely practical. Check the Agricultural tab in our HP Gains Calculator for specific makes and models.

Absolutely. We offer fleet pricing discounts for 3 or more vehicles. For larger fleets we can come on-site to minimise downtime — most operators find it easier than pulling vehicles off the road to bring them to us. See our fleet page or get in touch for a quote.

Both. We're a full mechanical workshop — WoF, brakes, suspension, auto electrical, air conditioning, diagnostics, and more. The tuning is our speciality, but plenty of customers use us as their regular workshop too. It keeps everything under one roof.

Stage 1 remaps start from $850. Stage 2 pricing depends on the vehicle and what hardware is required — we'll quote you at time of booking once we know the specifics. Fleet customers receive a discount on 3 or more vehicles. For agricultural equipment, pricing varies by make and model — get in touch for a direct quote.
